Video Tip o’ the Day: Handling Video in a PDF Exported from PowerPoint for Mac

image of slide showing movie poster imageOnly the movie poster exports

Don’t expect a PDF file exported from PowerPoint on Mac to behave properly. It can’t. You won’t see your animation, and you won’t see your movie–although you will see the poster image. Here’s a video showing what happens, and what you can do.

Would you like to try it yourself? Here are the source files:

background tune used in PPT

video used in project

original PPT file

exported PDF from PPT

revised PDF

By the way, I didn’t add the audio file back into the revise PDF, but it’s available if you’d like to give it a try.
